Hello. I’m Joseph. I am a first year graduate student at the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Johns Hopkins. I am advised by Prof. Shari Liu at the Look Infer and Understand Lab. My research uses behavioral and computational methods to study the developmental origins of our abstract knowledge of objects and agents.

I graduated from Cornell University in 2020 with a B.A. in Biology and Society, then worked as a research coordinator at Stanford with Profs. Hyowon Gweon, Tobi Gerstenberg, and Mike Frank studying the development of multi-modal integration, children’s reasoning about conversational AI agents, and cross-cultural differences in cognition and perception. I also worked with Prof. Laura Niemi at Cornell on perceptions of moral transgressions in the workplace. I was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya.
